Dear Members,

With the support of our Board of Directors, we have amended this year's schedule for the Board of Directors Election to better accommodate our members during the current NWT State of Emergency due to the wildfires. Listed below are the key election dates; the main change for members to note is the voting period, which has been reduced from three weeks to two weeks.

By making this change, it allows us to start the elections process two weeks later than planned, but still allows us to finish the process prior to our upcoming AGM and Conference, which will be held November 6th to 8th in Yellowknife.

Key Dates

  • Nominations Open:    Thursday, September 14
  • Nominations Close:    Thursday, October 5
  • Candidates Announced:   Wednesday, October 11
  • Voting Opens:   Thursday, October 12
  • Voting Closes:   Thursday, October 26

This year, four board positions will be up for election. Voting members will receive an email from the online voting portal Big Pulse on September 14. This will explain how to self nominate or nominate another member for a seat on the board. All nominees must be a member in good standing as of July 31st, and self nominations must be seconded by another member in good standing. All nominees must provide a candidate statement along with a picture, which will remain confidential until the candidate slate is announced on October 11.

We appreciate your patience with the increasing number of communications over the coming months; our goal is to be as clear as possible about the election process each step of the way.

All the best,

Donna Lee Demarcke
