NWT Tourism is happy to announce the recipients of the 2026 NWT Tourism scholarships.
- Recipient of the NWT Tourism Scholarship for AME/Pilot Training: Nicholas Graham
Nicholas is a second-year student in École St. Patrick High School's accredited pilot training program and is working toward a career as a Commercial Pilot in the Northwest Territories. A Flight Sergeant with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, he has completed advanced aviation training and mentored younger cadets through flight simulation and aviation education. A member of the Kátł'odeeche First Nation, he is passionate about building a made-in-the-NWT aviation career and inspiring Indigenous youth to pursue their own goals and ambitions. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to aviation make him a deserving recipient of this year's NWTT Scholarship for AME/Pilot Training.
- Recipient of the NWT Tourism Scholarship for Tourism, Hospitality, and Related Fields: Holly Murrary
Holly is a Yellowknife student enrolled in her second year of the Aviation Program offered through École St. Patrick High School, Summit Air, and Super T Aviation. Working toward a Private Pilot Licence with plans to become a Commercial Pilot in the Northwest Territories, she combines her passion for aviation with strong community involvement, including volunteer work, school leadership activities, lifeguarding and part-time employment as a Ramp Attendant with Summit Air. Her dedication to education, service, and the future of aviation in the NWT makes her a deserving recipient of this year's NWTT Scholarship for Tourism, Hospitality, and Related Fields.
Background
Northwest Territories Tourism is pleased to encourage the pursuit of excellence in the Tourism Industry in the Northwest Territories by offering annual NWT Tourism Scholarship awards.
Since 2014, NWT Tourism has been offering annual scholarships to NWT students pursuing post-secondary studies in hospitality and tourism. This is the twelfth year that NWT Tourism has offered scholarships, and the third year we have included Pilot and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) training as eligible fields of study. This year, NWTT further expanded the scholarship eligibility criteria to recognize that not all careers in the tourism sector follow traditional educational pathways. By broadening the requirements, we aim to support a wider range of students pursuing the diverse skills, training and career opportunities that contribute to the visitor economy across the Northwest Territories.
