Government of the Northwest Territories has announced the end of the Public Health Emergency Orders
The long-awaited date has arrived!
Today the Government of the Northwest Territories has announced the end of the Public Health Emergency Orders and along with it all remaining restrictions have been removed. For more information and to review GNWT's press release please see link here.
On Friday, April 1st at 12:00am there will no longer be a requirement for any travellers to fill out a Self Isolation Plan (SIP) upon entering the NWT. All highways into the NWT will be open, and our highways and airports will no longer be manned by border patrol personnel. We are truly ready to welcome back leisure travellers!
Invited to share the Spectacular NWT
As mentioned in an earlier communication this week, in partnership with the GNWT-ITI, we have launched a new Tourism Marketing Campaign for NWT residents. Please watch for more details on Monday, April 4th and please remind all residents to enter the contest to win a trip to the NWT for their friends and family.
Medical Director Assistance
Also, a reminder, with support from the GNWT-ITI we have been able to keep NWT Tourism’s Medical Director in place for the upcoming months. In transitioning to an unrestricted territory for visitors, and to reduce the potential strain on the NWT’s medical system, we have been asked to retain the medical director. She will be available to all NWT Tourism members for any COVID related issues that may arise in your business. The NWT Tourism Medical Director should be your first point of contact for any COVID related issues. If you need the contact information for our medical director, please contact me.
Safe Travel Stamp
I would like to remind all members about the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Safe Travels Global Protocols & Stamp program. You can find out more about the program here.
We encourage all members to have these protocols in place to allow travellers to recognize that you have adopted health and hygiene global standardized protocols – so consumers can experience 'Safe Travels'.
Resident Survey
Leger is continuing to do survey work for us, this time doing a 4th wave of the resident sentiment survey. The survey ends Sunday, April 10th and we encourage all residents to fill out the survey. A link to the survey can be found here.
Today is the start of building back our strong and viable tourism industry and industry that our members and our residents can be proud to be a part of. If there are any questions, or anything that you may need, please reach out to me for assistance at any time.
